The new candy buffet

3.14.2011

Candy buffets were all the rage in 2010, and it looks like the trend is going to continue right through 2011!

Candy buffets are a great way to add some late-night fun to your wedding. Most people search for glass jars or containers in varying sizes and stop in to the local Bulk Barn to stock up on candy.

While this candy buffet will certainly fill your guests' sweet tooth, why not take it one step further and truly create a WOW factor?

Below are 3 unique ways to spice up your sweet table.

1. Sundae Station

Do something different! This is my favourite rule of thumb! Stick with the dessert theme, but instead of candy, host a sundae bar with different flavours of ice cream and tons of toppings! Stock up on sprinkles that match your wedding theme, fresh fruit, chocolate and whipped cream!

Your guests will be talking about
it long after the wedding night!

2. Cupcake Shop

Cupcakes are hot this year! Television shows like Cupcake Wars and The Cupcake Girls have helped create hype! Why not incorporate these mini-cakes into your wedding? Hire a local bakery or cupcake shop to decorate an assortment of cuppycakes (miniature cupcakes) in your wedding colours. Make sure you have the basics, chocolate and vanilla, but also some more unique flavours like key lime, mojito or red velvet; whatever flavours compliment your wedding!

3. A real candy store

If you still LOVE the more traditional candy buffet, why reinvent the wheel? Instead, update it! Contact local candy stores and get quotes on renting out their candy machines. Many candy stores would love the opportunity to promote their services. Try to get them to include a staff member to operate the machines at your wedding. What better way to incorporate candy, than do have a real candy factory at your wedding?
